Emirates is taking Premium Economy to a whole new level, introducing a new seat on its Airbus A350 aircraft that brings something usually associated with Business Class: personal privacy.

The airline has unveiled an electrically powered Premium Economy seat featuring a full-height adjustable privacy screen between every passenger. At the touch of a button, travellers can raise or lower the screen and create a more private space for working, dining or relaxing. Emirates describes it as the first full-height adjustable privacy divider of its kind in a Premium Economy cabin.

The new Premium Economy cabin will feature 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. Each seat is 20 inches wide, with up to 39 inches of seat pitch, while the cradle-style recline is designed to provide more comfort without significantly affecting the passenger behind.

Passengers will also get electrically adjustable seating with preset positions, including meal and lounge modes. The experience is further upgraded with wireless charging, USB-C connectivity, a phone holder and Emirates’ latest 4K HDR inflight entertainment system.

Comfort has also received an upgrade, with Safran Seats’ U-Dream leather headrest featuring adjustable side wings for improved head and neck support, along with a manually deployable leather footrest.

Emirates has been steadily upgrading its Premium Economy offering, which already features wider cream leather seats, deeper recline, leg rests, upgraded dining and enhanced entertainment on selected aircraft.

With privacy screens, electric controls and premium cabin features now making their way into Premium Economy, Emirates is making the gap between Premium Economy and Business Class feel smaller than ever.

The new seats will debut on newly delivered Emirates A350 aircraft, giving passengers another reason to consider upgrading their next long-haul journey.
